GMC Scout vs Google Merchant Center diagnostics
Use both. Merchant Center is the account. GMC Scout is the storefront pass you run before you spend a review.
What Merchant Center diagnostics does
- Hold verification, feeds, item statuses and the request-review button.
- Surface feed and item issues Google’s systems have already found.
- Send warning and suspension notices with official policy links.
What it does not cover
- No crawl of policy pages, contact paths or site-wide 404s before you submit.
- No storefront evidence pack (URLs + excerpts) for the website audit.
- No cross-page identity check (email/phone/address present on the site).
What GMC Scout does
- Crawl the live Shopify storefront — 70+ checks mapped to Google’s website audit.
- HTTP-check every seeded and discovered URL (full 404 coverage).
- Return a PDF and exact evidence when you unlock a report.
What GMC Scout does not do
- Connect to Merchant Center or rewrite your feed.
- Promise approval or reinstatement.
- Replace Diagnostics for item-level feed errors on a live account.
