How to Appeal a Google Merchant Center Suspension

Most rejected appeals are filed before the storefront actually meets Google’s published audit. A review attempt is the expensive resource. Scan the Shopify store, fix what the crawl finds, then request review once.

Shopify stores only. We do not scan WooCommerce, Magento or custom carts. We never connect to Merchant Center or read your product feed.

Terry Ecom — Google won’t tell you which check failed. These are the checks I teach in GMC Help — I wrote this, so when they change, the scan does too.

GMC Scout is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Google alone makes all Merchant Center approval and enforcement decisions. GMC Scout checks 70+ technical, policy and trust signals commonly associated with Google Merchant Center approval, misrepresentation reviews and store-quality assessments.

Shopify stores only. This does not submit an appeal or change your Google account.

Free scan: issue counts and categories. Unlock the report ($49, once) for titles, evidence, affected URLs, fix guidance and the PDF. One free scan per 24 hours.

Before you appeal

If you have a warning, Google gives 7 or 28 calendar days. Products may keep showing during that window. Fix inside the window and the account is reviewed automatically at the end. You can request one courtesy review during the warning.

If you are already suspended, the clock has stopped helping you. The suspension does not expire. Requesting review on a half-fixed store costs days of downtime and another attempt. Practitioner reports of lengthening cooldowns after rejected appeals are not Google-published policy — we do not state them as rules. The conservative move is the same: do not burn an attempt on a store that still fails the audit list.

What to do, then where to click

Run a storefront audit against the published list: identity consistency, policy links with real terms, working destinations, HTTPS checkout. Re-scan after you change theme, apps or policy copy. Then request review once from Merchant Center — that button lives on the account’s diagnostics / issues surface and moves when Google redesigns the UI, so we will not screenshot a path that goes stale.

GMC Scout does the storefront pass. It does not submit the appeal, attach documents, or talk to a reviewer. After you unlock a report, the paid PDF is formatted as appeal notes, not a letter you send to Google.

Why appeals get rejected — and what to do next

The recurring pattern is appealing before identity, policies or broken destinations actually match the audit list. A feed-only fix does not lift an account-level misrepresentation suspension. A new Merchant Center account, a deleted feed, or a fresh domain while suspended escalates the problem.

If a review comes back rejected, fix whatever still fails a storefront crawl, wait for those changes to be live, and request review again only then. Google says account reviews typically take up to 7 business days. We do not publish a success rate.

FAQ

How long does a Merchant Center appeal review take?

Google says account reviews typically take up to 7 business days, and approved products can show again within 24 hours. We do not publish a typical reinstatement date.

How many appeals are allowed?

Google publishes one courtesy review during a warning period. It does not publish a lifetime appeal cap. We will not invent one.

Can I contact a human at Google about my suspension?

Merchant Center Help does not publish a named reviewer or a phone path for these appeals. Build the storefront as if a person will open the links — because the audit list is made of pages a person or a crawler can open.
