GMC disapproved vs suspended: the difference that changes the fix

Merchants use “disapproved” and “suspended” interchangeably. They are different states with different scopes and different next steps.
Disapproved
Disapproval is item-level. Specific products are blocked from Shopping surfaces. Other approved products can keep serving. The usual path is: correct the product or landing-page data, let the feed re-sync, and wait for that item to be reviewed again.
Suspended
An account suspension is not “some products stopped showing”. Shopping ads stop. Free listings are removed. Performance Max can keep spending on Search and Display while the Shopping inventory that carried most of the ROAS is gone.
The suspension does not time out. It stays until you fix the cause and Google reinstates the account. Opening a new Merchant Center account while suspended is treated as circumventing systems.
Why the distinction matters
If the account is live and a subset of items is disapproved, you still have a serving account — fix those destinations and attributes. If the account is suspended, the expensive resource is the review attempt: fix the whole storefront first, then request re-review once.
FAQ
Can disapproved products lead to a suspension?
Persistent or widespread item issues can escalate. Treat a growing disapproval rate as a storefront problem, not only a feed-row problem.
Does a suspension expire?
No. Google’s Help page is explicit: it stays until you meet the requirements and the account is reinstated.
Should I delete the account and start over?
No. Do not delete the suspended account or the feed, and do not open a new account while suspended.
